Map controls
Use map controls to set the zoom level, basemap, scenario and other overall map features. To learn more about maps, refer to:

The map view supports a number of different basemaps. Select the basemap from the Maps drop-down list. Refer to Map basemaps for additional information. |
| Show/Hide Layers |
|
Click Show Layers to display the layer controls at the bottom of the map. Click Hide Layers to hide the layer controls. For details, refer to Displaying map layers. |
| Legend |
|
You can turn on the map Legend to provide a summary of what the various map markers used on the map represent. Each layer is displayed as a node in the Legend. When you expand the node, you see the fields and associated values that are used to differentiate the markers. See Differentiating map markers for additional information. |
| Sync |
|
When you select Sync, the zoom state and center point of all maps are synchronized to be the same. When this option is not selected, the zoom state and center point of each map is independent. This includes maps open in their own tabs. It does not affect map widgets displayed on dashboards. For map widgets, refer to Defining dashboards. |
| Zoom preset |
|
Use the zoom preset feature to zoom to one of the predefined regions, such as Africa, Europe, and Southeast Asia. When you select a zoom preset region, the control displays the name of that region. In addition, you can create your own custom quick zooms. Each custom quick zoom will maintain the zoom factor and center point. For details about working with custom quick zooms, refer to Working with zoom presets. |
| Zoom in |
|
Click zoom in to increase the magnification of the map by a preset value. The center point of the view is maintained as you zoom in. Note: You can also use the mouse wheel to zoom in and zoom out. |

Click zoom out to decrease the magnification of the map by a preset value. The center point of the view is maintained as you zoom out. Note: You can also use the mouse wheel to zoom in and zoom out. |

Drag the slider down to zoom out or up to zoom in on the view. |
Working with zoom presets
Supply Chain Guru X provides a set of predefined zooms, such as World, Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia and Australia & New Zealand. You can click Select Zoom Preset, then select one of these predefined zoom states.
You can also create your own zoom states. These will be added to the zoom preset list above the predefined zooms.
- Open the map you want to use.
- Zoom and center the map as needed.
- Click the Select Zoom Preset function
in the map tools. - Click Save New Quick Zoom.
- Enter the name of the quick zoom, then click Save. The default name is Custom Quick Zoom.
The new quick zoom is added to the list of zoom presets. Custom zoom presets are displayed at the top of the list.
- Click the Select Zoom Preset function in the map tools.
- Click Quick Zoom Manager.
- Select the custom quick zoom you want to rename, then click Edit
. - Enter the new name, then click Apply.
- Click the Select Zoom Preset function in the map tools.
- Click Quick Zoom Manager.
- Select the custom quick zoom you want to delete, then click Delete
. You are asked to confirm the deletion. - Click Yes, then click Apply. The custom quick zoom is deleted.
Map basemaps
A number of basemaps are provided with the map, enabling you to control the overall look of each map. The set of available basemaps will vary based on which providers have valid account keys, as defined in Geodata settings.
The basemaps include:
- Stamen Toner (disabled) – The Stamen Toner basemap provides geopolitical boundaries and geographic names, as well as roadways using a monochromatic pallet. This basemap is currently not supported.
- Stamen Watercolor (disabled) – The Stamen Watercolor basemap provides land masses, bodies of water and abstracted roadways using a water color pallet. This basemap is currently not supported.
- Bing Road – The Bing Road basemap provides geopolitical boundaries and geographic names, as well as detailed roadways and landmarks. This basemap is available if you have a valid Bing account key. This is the default basemap.
- Bing Aerial – The Bing Road basemap provides geographic names and aerial (satellite) images of geopolitical boundaries, detailed roadways and landmarks. This basemap is available if you have a valid Bing account key.
- Natural Earth (local) – The Natural Earth (local) basemap provides a basic basemap with geographic features and high-level geopolitical boundaries. The data for this basemap resides in the Supply Chain Guru X application folder, so it can be displayed when you have no internet connection.
- Mapbox Streets – Mapbox Streets provides geopolitical boundaries and geographic names, as well as roadways and geographic features. This basemap is the default.
- Mapbox Light – Mapbox Light provides geopolitical boundaries and geographic names, as well as roadways using a light grey scale palette.
- Mapbox Dark – Mapbox Dark provides geopolitical boundaries and geographic names, as well as roadways using a dark grey scale palette.
- Mapbox Satellite – Mapbox Satellite provides geographic names and aerial (satellite) images of geopolitical boundaries, detailed roadways and landmarks.
