Calculating shipping rates
Supply Chain Guru X supports the calculation of both LTL and parcel rates:
- RateWare XL – You can use RateWare® XL from SMC3 to obtain LTL tariff rates. Refer to Using RateWare XL tariff rates for detailed information.
- Parcel Rates – Supply Chain Guru X includes a set of FedEx® and UPS® rate tables that you can use to calculate parcel rates. Refer to Using parcel rating for detailed information. The rates returned are currently 2018 values.
Once you have created shipping rates, you can use these records as an input pipe for the following columns:
- Transportation Policies – Variable Transportation Cost column.
- Shipments – Direct Shipping Cost column.
The Rate Source name(s) as defined in the Shipping Rates table is available as an input pipe name for the Variable Transportation Cost and Direct Shipping Cost columns. For additional information, refer to Populate costs using shipping rates.
Additionally, you can populate the Direct Shipping Cost column with the LTL costing mechanism, as described in LTL costing. Use the LTL Rate table to define carrier-specific base costs per Source-Destination-Product combination, then use Calculate LTL Cost to determining the lowest feasible cost and populate the Direct Shipping Cost.
