Working with models

You create one or more models and populate these models with data. The models can be organized into projects for ease in tracking and maintaining them.

The model contains the data and is stored in a Microsoft SQL Server database (.scgm file).

When creating models, be aware of the Windows file path limit of 260 characters. When you run a model with a solver, sub-folders are created based on the technology you use. The folders will include the scenario name, and input and output files are populated in these folders. Coupa recommends that you use model paths that are significantly less than the Microsoft limit to allow for successful solving.

Please note: Do not adjust the model database schemas. Specifically, do not adjust anything in the outputtemp and outputtempARCH schemas. These are reserved and should not be used for any other purposes in the creation or processing of models and other assets on the platform.

In the Models area, you can view models in List View or Tile View . In addition, Recent models gives you quick access to the models you have visited most recently.

If you have valid Supply Chain credentials and are signed in, you can transfer models between Supply Chain Guru X and Modeler, as described in File transfers.

Model backups

Supply Chain Guru X automatically creates a backup copy of each model you open. The backup files have the extension .scgb. You can also create additional backup points as needed. In this way, you can restore the model to the state it was in at a specific point.

For additional details about model backups, refer to Model history.

Recent models

Supply Chain Guru X maintains a list of the models you have recently accessed. This enables you to quickly access models that may be associated with various project. When you start Supply Chain Guru X, you see the Recent Models feature selected and the most recent models listed in order by most recently accessed.

When on Recent Models, you can:

  • Open one of the models listed, by double-clicking on the model.
  • Create a New Model.
  • Duplicate one of the models listed, by selecting a model, then clicking Duplicate.
  • Expand a model scenario by selecting a model, then clicking Expand.
