Populate the DDM using Data Guru
There are several methods to populate your Decision Data Model (DDM). In the Model Building Quick Start, we set up an app and use the Run Excel Import action within a macro.
In this topic, you will learn how to use Data Guru to populate a number of DDM tables at once. This method works very well if you already include Data Guru in your workflow. It enables you to maintain a local version of a DDM database, with a schema that exactly matches the DDM in the Supply Chain platform.
The steps in this workflow are as follows:
-
In Data Guru, use the platform DDM to create a local database that replicates the DDM schema. You will use the local database as the source for uploading data to the DDM in Coupa Supply Chain.
-
Import data into the local database from an Excel file that contains demo data. This same process can be used with your own data.
-
Configure the Platform MultiTable Export action in Data Guru with your local database as the source and the DDM as the destination.
-
Run the Platform MultiTable Export action to populate the DDM with the demo data.
In order to complete this workflow, the following is required:
-
You must have Data Guru version 32.0.0 or higher installed and have a basic understanding of Data Guru connections and actions.
-
You must have a valid API key.
-
You must have a DDM created and available to you. This task is described in the Create the Decision Data Model step of the Model Building Quick Start. This workflow assumes that the DDM has not been populated with any data.
