Icon

Use the Icon widget to display an icon along with a value that functions as a statistic or metric. The icon will always be displayed to the left of the label. You will need to define sorting or a condition to determine which value to use. You can also add conditional formatting to an Icon widget.

Icon widget properties

Use this property To do this
General tab
Name Type an internal name for the widget
Connection Name Specify a connection to a data source.
Scope Type Make the connection public or specify a named session.
Title Type a title for the Icon widget box. If necessary, adjust the appearance of the title.
Title Bar Visibility

Specify the visibility of the widget title bar. Choose one of the following:

  • Above
  • Overlay
  • Hidden (outside Designer only)
Context Sensitivity

Specify the context sensitivity.

Choose from the following:

  • None
  • Receives Context

The Icon can only receive context based on the statement set on the Value property.

The Icon widget cannot provide context.

To specify context sensitivity options, click to access the context sensitivity properties.

Tile tab
Background Color Specify the background color of the list.
Text Color Specify the color of text in the list.
Show Shadow Display a shadow on the widget.
Show Title Row Border Display borders around the title row of the widget.
Font Size Specify the size of the chart title.
Font Preview Shows you a preview of how your font selections will affect the title.
Bold Display the chart title in bold text.
Italic Display the chart title in italics.
Style tab
Select Icon Click Browse to specify an icon for display on the widget, or if an icon is already selected, click Change icon to select a different icon.
Icon Color Specify the color of the icon.
Font Size Specify the size of the icon label.
Font Preview Shows you a preview of how your font selections will affect the title.
Bold Display the icon label in bold.
Italic Display the icon label in bold.
Vertical Alignment

Change the vertical position of the icon and the label. Choose any of the following:

  • Top
  • Center
  • Bottom
Horizontal Alignment

Change the horizontal position of the icon and the label. Choose any of the following:

  • Left
  • Center
  • Right
Value tab
Value Specify a value to display on the widget.
  1. Click .

    A blank field is displayed.

  2. Construct the query as necessary. See Statement Editor Functions for a list of available functions.
Value Formatting Adjust the appearance of the text displayed on the widget.
  1. Click .
  2. Adjust the value formatting options as necessary.
Hide Value When Negative Select the check box if you want to hide a negative value.
Tooltip

Enter a description that will appear when the user hovers over the icon.

Alternatively, you can click the Value Editor toggle and use the Statement Editor to specify the tooltip.

Advanced tab
Conditions Specify any conditions that must be met to return a value.
  1. Click Add Statement.

    A blank statement is displayed.

  2. Construct the query as necessary. See Statement Editor Functions for a list of available functions.
Sort By Filter the data to further narrow the scope of the query.

  3. Click Sort Ascending or Descending to adjust the order of displayed records.
Button Visibility tab
Refresh Show or hide the Refresh button on the widget toolbar.
Events tab
Add Event Handler Add events to the widget.
  1. For When/On, specify when you want the event to occur.
  2. For Then, specify the action that you want to occur.
