Solving on the cloud
If you are logged into Supply Chain or SupplyChainGuru.com (refer to Signing in), you can send your model scenarios to the cloud to solve. When you solve on the cloud, you can select the design engine to be used to run your scenarios. Once solved, you can download the results to your local model.
Keep in mind the when solving models on the cloud, the Coupa Supply Chain platform supports models with a database schema of up to 1 year old. See Platform support for model versions for additional details.
Solve scenarios on the cloud
- At the top of the Supply Chain Guru X window, click Run
. You see the Launch Pad.
- Select the Technology and the Problem Type you want to use.
- In the Select Scenarios section, select the scenario(s) you want to run.
- Select Cloud as the Run Mode.
- Optionally, select the Cloud Engine you want to use to run your scenarios. This enables you to control the use of solving engines, such as assigning a smaller engine to smaller models or selecting an engine for models from specific business units. If you do not require a specific engine, you can use the default. This will be called "Default Cloud Engine" for standard design engine solves and "Rxx - Standard" (where "xx" is the release number) when solving with Next Gen solvers. For more information, see Cloud design engines.
- Click Run. The cloud solve is processed in a series of steps that you can see when you select a scenario from the Scenario Queue:
- Model data is uploaded to the cloud. When using Next Gen solvers, a specific task (called a hydrator) is launched that uploads the model data for the scenarios you have selected. If you are solving 2 scenarios, you will see 3 tasks in Queue Management on the Supply Chain platform.
- Once data is uploaded, the solve is processed on the cloud.
- When the solve is complete, click Download to download the results from Supply Chain.
- The results are imported into your local model.
If the Run button is not active, it means the Problem Type you have selected is not available for cloud solving. The following Problem Types are not available for cloud solving:
Demand Analysis (Inventory Optimization)
Inventory Simulation (Inventory Optimization)
Simulation (Simulation)
- When one or more of the scenarios is ready for download, you can click Download All Cloud Results to download and import the results for all scenarios completed. You can also select an individual scenario and click Download. Once the results have been downloaded, a Download Again button is available until you close the model.
Downloading cloud solve results
You can download cloud solve results from the Launch Pad as soon as they are available or you can choose to download them at a later time. If you have not downloaded results for a specific model scenario, when you next open the model, you will receive a notification that results are ready to be downloaded. You can open the Launch Pad and download results as described in Solve scenarios on the cloud.
Cloud solve issue with Scenario Notes and text fields
Do not include tab, linefeed or carriage return characters in Scenario Notes or in text fields in other table records in the model. For example, do not break the note text into multiple paragraphs. If these characters are in any scenario definitions or table records in the model, cloud solving will fail.
Input pipe data source names
If your model uses one or more input pipes, do not use data sources with filenames that start with a number (such as 2020_Rates.xlsx). This can cause issues when cloud solving.
