Customizing templates

The template sheets included with Data Visualizations can be customized to your needs. This topic includes a selection of commonly customized settings. For additional information about customizing your sheets, see Working with sheets in the Qlik help.

We recommend that you edit the sheet with the “Advanced options” toggle turned on. This toggle is located in the upper right corner of the sheet. These instructions assume that the toggle is on.

Customize a copy of a template

  1. Open your copy of the template and select Edit sheet to begin customizing the sheet.

  2. Click the Advanced options toggle if it is not already selected.

  3. To customize the sheet size:

    1. Click on a blank part of the sheet.

    2. In the Sheet Properties panel, scroll down to Sheet Size.

    3. Change the values of the Width and Height fields to fit your needs.

  4. Most templates include charts. You can change the chart to use other dimensions if needed.

    1. Select the chart.

    2. On the Chart Suggestions panel, select Data.

    3. Under Dimensions, select in the Field field and enter a new field to use.

    4. In the Bars field, enter a new field to use.

  5. To customize number formatting:

    1. Select the visualization whose number formatting you need to change.

    2. On the Chart suggestions panel, select the measure.

    3. Change the Format Pattern field to the appropriate pattern. The format is $#,##0.00 by default.
