Using lane costs
You can use Lane Cost Definitions to create transportation cost lookups for combinations of sites and/or customers. This is similar to zone costs, but simplified to have a single lookup, rather than using a set of zones.
You define lane costs in the following tables:
- Lane Cost Definitions – Use this table to define the grouping level for the lane source and destination. These are values such as Country, State or Zip Code. You also define the step period and basis for the lane cost.
- Lane Cost – Use this table to define the cost per source-destination combination at a specific throughput level.
For example, you can set up a simple state to state matrix, with cost breaks at specific throughput levels.
Lane Cost Name | Source | Destination | Minimum Quantity | Cost |
BasicStateToState | MI | MI | 0 | 1.00 |
BasicStateToState | MI | MI | 1000 | 0.90 |
BasicStateToState | MI | MI | 5000 | 0.80 |
BasicStateToState | MI | IN | 0 | 1.05 |
BasicStateToState | MI | IN | 1000 | 0.95 |
BasicStateToState | MI | IN | 5000 | 0.85 |
BasicStateToState | MI | PA | 0 | 1.15 |
BasicStateToState | MI | PA | 1000 | 1.05 |
BasicStateToState | MI | PA | 5000 | 0.95 |
