Map controls

Use map controls to set the zoom level, basemap, scenario and other overall map features. To learn more about maps, refer to:

Control   Description
Scenarios

 

 

Your model may contain user defined scenarios in addition to the Baseline. Use this control to select the scenario for which map layer data is displayed.
Map Type   The map view supports a number of different basemaps. Select the basemap from the MapType drop-down list. Refer to Map basemaps for additional information.
Show/Hide Layers

 

 

Click Show Layers to display the layer controls at the bottom of the map. Click Hide Layers to hide the layer controls. For details, refer to Displaying map layers.
Zoom preset

Use the zoom preset feature to zoom to one of the predefined regions, such as Africa, Europe, and Southeast Asia. When you select a zoom preset region, the control displays the name of that region.

In addition, you can create your own custom quick zooms. Each custom quick zoom will maintain the zoom factor and center point. For details about working with custom quick zooms, refer to Working with zoom presets.

Zoom in

 

Click zoom in to increase the magnification of the map by a preset value. The center point of the view is maintained as you zoom in.

Note: You can also use the mouse wheel to zoom in and zoom out.

Zoom out

 

Click zoom out to decrease the magnification of the map by a preset value. The center point of the view is maintained as you zoom out.

Note: You can also use the mouse wheel to zoom in and zoom out.

Rotate Click and drag the rotate icon to change the orientation of the map. The center point of the map is maintained as you rotate the map.
Zoom slider Drag the slider down to zoom out or up to zoom in on the view.
Full screen

Click Full Screen to display the map in the full display area.

Click Esc or Restore to return to the regular tab display.

Working with zoom presets

Modeler provides a set of predefined zooms, such as World, Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia and Australia & New Zealand. You can click Select Zoom Preset, then select one of these predefined zoom states.

You can also create your own zoom states. These will be added to the zoom preset list above the predefined zooms.

Map basemaps

The Map Types that are available depend on your map provider. By default, the provider is Bing with the following Map Types:

  • Bing Road – The Bing Road basemap provides geopolitical boundaries and geographic names, as well as detailed roadways and landmarks.

  • Bing Aerial – The Bing Road basemap provides geographic names and aerial (satellite) images of geopolitical boundaries, detailed roadways and landmarks.

If your provider is Mapbox, you will have the following Map Types:

  • Basic – The Basic basemap provides geopolitical boundaries and geographic names, as well as roadways.
  • Streets – The Streets basemap provides geopolitical boundaries and geographic names, as well as roadways.
  • Bright – The Bright basemap provides geopolitical boundaries and geographic names, as well as roadways, with bright coloring.
  • Light – The Light basemap provides geopolitical boundaries and geographic names, as well as roadways, with light low-contrast coloring.
  • Dark – The Dark basemap provides geopolitical boundaries and geographic names, as well as roadways, with dark low-contrast coloring.
  • Satellite – The Satellite basemap provides aerial (satellite) images of geopolitical boundaries, detailed roadways and landmarks.
