Electric Vehicle Battery Definitions
Internal Table Name: ElectricVehicleBatteryDefinitions
Use this table to define vehicle batteries, their capacity, energy consumption per distance and charging options.
Name
Technology: TO
Table: ElectricVehicleBatteryDefinitions
Internal Name: BatteryName
Type: Short Text (100)
The unique name for the Electric Vehicle Battery Definition.
Battery Capacity (KWH)
Technology: TO
Table: ElectricVehicleBatteryDefinitions
Internal Name: BatteryCapacity
Type: Number (Float)
Enter the capacity of the electric vehicle battery in kilowatt hours.
Per Distance Consumption Rate
Technology: TO
Table: ElectricVehicleBatteryDefinitions
Internal Name: ConsumptionRate
Type: Number (Float)
Enter the electrical consumption incurred for each distance unit. The rate is in terms of kWh (kilowatt hours). Use Consumption Rate Distance Basis to identify the distance unit of measure. The range of the vehicle is determined based on the Battery Capacity and the Per Distance Consumption Rate. For example, if the Battery Capacity is 100 kWh and the Per Distance Consumption Rate is 1 kWh/mile, then the range of the vehicle is 100 miles. The Maximum Charge Percentage also affects the range. If the maximum is less than 1, the range is reduced proportionally.
Consumption Rate Distance Basis
Technology: TO
Table: ElectricVehicleBatteryDefinitions
Internal Name: ConsumptionRateDistanceBasis
Type: Short Text (100)
Select the distance unit of measure that determines how electrical consumption is incurred.
Minimum Charge Percentage (0-1)
Technology: TO
Table: ElectricVehicleBatteryDefinitions
Internal Name: MinChargePercentage
Type: Number (Float)
Enter the minimum percentage that the battery must hold. The value must be between 0 and 1. For example, if the battery must always hold at least 5% of its charge, enter the value as 0.05.
Maximum Charge Percentage (0-1)
Technology: TO
Table: ElectricVehicleBatteryDefinitions
Internal Name: MaxChargePercentage
Type: Number (Float)
Enter the maximum percentage that the battery can be charged. The value must be between 0 and 1. If the maximum charge for the battery is 95%, enter .95 as the value. As an example, assume the Battery Capacity is 100 kWh and the Per Distance Consumption Rate is 1 kWh/mile, the Minimum Charge Percentage is 0.05 and the Maximum Charge Percentage is 0.95. In this case, the range of the vehicle is 90 miles.
Charging Option Selection Rule
Technology: TO
Table: ElectricVehicleBatteryDefinitions
Internal Name: ChargingOptionSelectionRule
Type: Short Text (100)
One of Fastest, Slowest, Optimized
Select the way in which the electric vehicle battery is charged. It is based on the Charging Speed in the Battery Charging Option Definitions table and which of these charging options support this battery as defined in the Charging Option Assignments table. It is applied when a charging station has different charge options available for the battery:
- Fastest - The battery uses the fastest charging option available among the charging options at a site.
- Slowest - The battery uses the slowest charging option available among the charging options at a site.
- Optimized - The solver determines which is the best charging option for this battery. Cost comes into play while deciding which charging option to select at a site. Initially, routes are created (including charging station) without considering the cost of charging. The cost is then used when deciding between available charging options at the site.
For example, if battery Battery1 has the Charging Option Selection Rule set to "Slowest", and there are 3 charging options available at each station in the Charging Option Assignments table, the solver will always choose slowest option available at the site.
