Loading data with Microsoft® Excel®
Before using Demand Modeler, you need to load historical and causal data into Demand Modeler. The primary method of loading data is to use the DDM Import task, but it is also possible to import data using Excel. This section discusses loading data using Excel.
Load your historical demand data
Before you load your historical demand data, you should create the load file. This import also loads your master data.
- Log into the Demand Modeler app.
- Select the Input
button. The Demand page appears. - Select the Filters button to filter the data. Select Apply when finished making selections in the list filters.
- Select Upload. A File Upload field appears at the top of the page.
- Select Select a demand file to select the Excel file to load and select Open.
- The data is loaded. You can filter the data and review it.
Load internal causal data into the model
Before you load your internal causal data, you should create the load file.
- Log into the Demand Modeler app.
- Select the Input
button. The Demand page appears. - Select the Causals
button. The Causals page appears. - From the Causals page, select the Internal tab.
- Select Filters. Several filter fields appear at the top of the page.
- Use the filter fields to filter the data. Select Apply when finished selecting from list filters.
- Select Upload. A File Upload field appears at the top of the page.
- Select Select a demand file to select the Excel file to load and select Open.
- The data is loaded. You can filter the data and review it.
Load event data into the model
This table stores information for promotions and calendar events that occur over a duration of time. The information can be only timestamp specific, or it can correspond to different dimensions in the level of detail along with the timestamp.
Before you load your event data, you should create the load file.
- Log into the Demand Modeler app.
- Select the Input
button. The Demand page appears. - Select the Causals
button. The Causals page appears. - From the Causals page, select the Events tab.
- Select the Filters button to filter the data. Select Apply when finished making selections in the list filters.
- Select Upload. A File Upload field appears at the top of the page.
- Select Select a demand file to select the Excel file to load and select Open.
- The data is loaded. You can filter the data and review it.
