Creating data flows
You create new data flows from the Data Flows landing page. Each data flow requires a unique name (per user) and a connection definition to a data source (model, user defined database, or DDM). Once you create a data flow, you can open it and add the actions, additional connections and parameters to define your workflow.
Create a new data flow
-
Click New Data Flow. You see the New Data Flow flyout.
-
Enter a Name for the data flow. The value must not include special characters (/ \ : * ? " < > |) and must be unique for your data flows.
-
Optionally, enter a Description of the data flow. The Description is limited to 256 characters.
-
Enter the Connection Name for the initial connection. The value must not include special characters (/ \ : * ? " < > |). You are creating a connection definition as part of the new data flow.
-
Select the Asset Type for the connection. This is one of: Model (Supply Chain model database), Database (user defined database), Decision Data Model.
-
Select the Asset that you are associating with the connection. The dropdown list will be based on the Asset Type you selected and the assets that you own or are shared with you.
-
Click Save.
The data flow is created, opened, and published. See Saving and publishing data flows. You see the design canvas for the data flow.
