Work centers in process modeling
When assigning work centers to sites for process modeling, there are cases where you need to determine whether the assignment is at the source or destination site. The correct assignment of a Site value in the Work Centers table depends on the process type as listed below:
Production Processes - All process activity takes place at one site, so work centers are assigned to the same site for all process types.
-
Start Production - The work center should be assigned to the production site.
-
Run Production - The work center should be assigned to the production site.
-
Complete Production - The work center should be assigned to the production site.
Sourcing Processes - Different activities occur at the source vs the destination site.
-
Create Order - The work center should be assigned to the destination site.
-
Send Order - The work center should be assigned to the destination site.
-
Receive Order - The work center should be assigned to the source site.
Transportation Processes - Different activities occur at the source vs the destination site.
-
Create Shipment - The work center should be assigned to the source site.
-
Send Shipment - The work center should be assigned to the source site.
-
Receive Shipment - The work center should be assigned to the destination site.
Inventory Processes - All process activity takes place at one site, so work centers are assigned to the same site for all process types.
-
Stock Inventory - The work center should be assigned to the inventory site.
-
Pick Inventory - The work center should be assigned to the inventory site.
Returns Processes - The source of the process is a customer, so there will be no work centers at the source location.
-
Create Return - No work center assignment (Customer location).
-
Send Return - No work center assignment (Customer location).
-
Receive Return - The work center should be assigned to the destination site (Site location).
