Shipping Rates
Internal Table Name: ShippingRates
Use the Shipping Rates table to calculate LTL and Parcel rates that you can then use to populate the Variable Transportation Cost column in Transportation Policies and the Direct Shipping Cost in Shipments.
- RateWare XL – You can use RateWare® XL from SMC3 to obtain LTL tariff rates when using Supply Chain Guru X.
- Parcel Rates – Supply Chain Guru X includes a set of FedEx® and UPS® rate tables that you can use to calculate parcel rates.
The records in your Transportation Policies and Shipments tables can be used to populate the origin, destination and product information in Shipping Rates. Based on these values, you use the Calculate Rates function to perform lookups and populate the rate values.
Once the Shipping Rates have been calculated, the Rate Source can be used to populate a number of cost columns:
-
Shipments > Direct Shipping Cost
-
Transportation Policies > Variable Transportation Cost
-
Transportation Policies > Fixed Shipment Cost
-
LTL Rate > Base Cost

Shipment Weight
Technology: NO TO S
Table: ShippingRates
Internal Name: ShipmentWeight
Type: Short Text (100)
This is the weight to be used to calculate the cost of the shipment. If you are entering records manually, enter the weight value. When you use Generate Data, the weight is returned or calculated, based on what is populated in the source tables:
When using Transportation Policies to generate Shipping Rate data, Shipment Size is used to determine the weight of the shipment. If the Shipment Size unit of measure is not weight-based, the value is converted based on the Weight as defined in the Products table.
Shipment Size Unit of Measure Category | Calculation for Shipment Weight used in Lookup |
Weight | Shipment Weight = Shipment Size |
Quantity | Shipment Weight = Shipment Size * Product Weight |
Volume | Shipment Weight = Shipment Size * (Product Weight/Product Volume ) |
When using Shipments to generate Shipping Rate data, the weight is determined based on whether Weight, Volume or Quantity is populated as shown below:
Shipment Fields Populated | Calculation for Shipment Weight used in Lookup |
Weight populated | Shipment Weight = Weight |
Weight null, Volume populated | Shipment Weight = Volume* (Product.Weight/Product.Volume) |
Weight null, Volume null, Quantity populated | Shipment Weight = Quantity * Product.Weight |
You can manually edit the Shipment Weight as required. Enter a value, then optionally select a weight unit of measure. If you do not select a unit of measure, the default Weight Unit Of Measure from Model Settings is used.
FedEx and UPS have a maximum Shipment Weight of 150 LB.
