Safety Stock Optimization Constraints

Internal Table Name: SafetyStockOptimizationConstraints

This table enables you to define minimum and maximum safety stock constraints by product set for a given site. This helps you to model safety stock capacities at warehouses. You can set up the required fields, such as Period, Site and Product using “Each” or “All”.

Period

Internal Name: PeriodName

Type: Short Text (50)

Select the period for which the safety stock constraint applies. In a single period model, the safety stock constraints apply to the model horizon. In a multi-period model, you must select the period to which the safety stock constraints apply. You can select one of:

  • Period name – The safety stock constraint applies to the selected period only.
  • (ALL_Periods) – The safety stock constraint applies to each period in a multi-period model.

Site

Internal Name: SiteName

Type: Short Text (100)

Select the site or site group for which the safety stock constraint applies. If you use a filter/group, you actively select how to apply the constraint:

  • (All) to apply the constraint to the full group
  • (Each) to apply the constraint per group member

If you are setting the values outside the Supply Chain Guru X or Modeler user interface, see Controlling Each and All through the model database.

Product

Internal Name: ProductName

Type: Short Text (100)

Select the product group for which the safety stock constraint applies. You must use a product group, rather than an individual product, in order to have the constraint applied correctly. If you use a filter/group, you actively select how to apply the constraint:

  • (All) to apply the constraint to the full group
  • (Each) to apply the constraint per group member

Cycle Stock

One of Include, Exclude.

Specify whether or not to include cycle stock in the constraint.

Default: Exclude

Minimum Inventory Level

Type: Short Text (100)

Enter the minimum safety stock that must be maintained. Enter a value, then optionally select a quantity, weight, volume, or other unit of measure, or select DOS to specify Days of Supply. The “other” type includes Holding Cost, Value, and Price. If you do not select a unit of measure, the default Quantity Unit Of Measure from Model Settings is used.

Maximum Inventory Level

Type: Short Text (100)

Enter the maximum safety stock than can be maintained. Enter a value, then optionally select a quantity, weight, volume, or other unit of measure, or select DOS to specify Days of Supply. The “other” type includes Holding Cost, Value, and Price. If you do not select a unit of measure, the default Quantity Unit Of Measure from Model Settings is used.

Minimum Service Time

Enter the minimum service time that must be reached. Enter a value, then optionally select a time unit of measure. If you do not select a unit of measure, the default Time Unit Of Measure from Model Settings is used.

Maximum Service Time
