Linear programming and mixed integer linear programming
An optimal network layout can be mathematically determined based on network components including the following:
- Sites
- Customers
- Products
- Demand (Customer and Site)
- Inventory Policies
- Production Policies
- Site Sourcing Policies
- Customer Sourcing Policies
- Transportation Policies
The process by which this can be done is referred to as "linear programming." To learn more about linear programs, refer to:
- Decision variables
- Objective function
- Constraints
- Formulating a linear program
- Integer constraints
- Solution methods
