Last Mile Service Constraints
Internal Table Name: AggregateServiceConstraints
Use Last Mile Service Constraints for Network Optimization and for Greenfield Analysis.
Network Optimization:
For Network Optimization, you define constraints based on combinations of Period-Site-Customer-Product-Mode. You specify the constraint basis, such as “Quantity” or “Weight”. You then define the Distance and/or Time constraint with the Percentage of demand that must be served within this constraint.
You can relax these Service Constraints when running Sequential Optimization. To do so, include the following objectives in the Sequential Objectives table:
- Distance Service Percentage – Use this objective to relax Service Constraints that constrain based on Distance.
- Time Service Percentage – Use this objective to relax Service Constraints that constrain based on Time.
Greenfield Analysis:
When defining records for Greenfield Analysis, populate the Expression, Distance, Percentage and Status columns. Greenfield Analysis includes all Customers and constrains the result on Distance, not Time.

Internal Name: Mode
Type: Short Text (100)
Network Optimization: Specify the mode or mode group to which the service constraint applies.
Constraint Basis
Technology: NO
Table: AggregateServiceConstraints
Internal Name: Basis
Type: Short Text (100)
One of: Quantity, Weight, Cubic
Network Optimization: Select the basis by which the constraint is applied.
Default: Quantity
Distance
Technology: NO
Table: AggregateServiceConstraints
Internal Name: Distance
Type: Short Text (100)
This field applies to both Network Optimization and Greenfield Analysis. This field specifies the distance range from the site to customer locations. Enter a value, then optionally select a distance unit of measure. If you do not select a unit of measure, the default Distance Unit Of Measure from Model Settings is used.
Time
Technology: NO
Table: AggregateServiceConstraints
Internal Name: Time
Type: Short Text (100)
Network Optimization: This field specifies the travel time range from the site to customer locations. This constraint considers transport time only, using Transport Time from Transportation Policies or the Travel Time override in Transit Matrix. Enter a value, then optionally select a time unit of measure. If you do not select a unit of measure, the default Time Unit Of Measure from Model Settings is used.
Percentage
Technology: NO
Table: AggregateServiceConstraints
Internal Name: Percentage
Type: Number (Integer)
This field applies to both Network Optimization and Greenfield Analysis.
Network Optimization: This field specifies the minimum percentage of demand that must be served within this constraint. This is based on combinations of Period-Site-Customer-Product-Mode must satisfy both the Distance and Time values if populated.
Greenfield Analysis: This field specifies the minimum percentage of demand or customers that must be served within the distance specified by Distance. Please note:
- Greenfield Analysis does not solve for the value in Time.
- The Service Constraint Basis on the Greenfield Options tab of Optimization Options determines whether the constraint is applied to Demand or Customers served. For example, when constraining by % Customer Served, if you have 400 customers and specify a Percentage of 50, Greenfield Analysis must serve at least 200 customers within the Distance value.
- All Customers are considered when running Greenfield Analysis; the Site and Customercolumns in the Last Mile Service Constraints table are not used as constraints. You can exclude existing Sites as Greenfield candidates using the Exclude All Existing Sites option on the Greenfield Options tab of Optimization Options.
- You can also constrain Greenfield Analysis using the Max Sourcing Distance on the Greenfield Options tab of Optimization Options.
Status
Technology: NO
Table: AggregateServiceConstraints
Internal Name: Status
Type: Short Text (25)
One of Include, Exclude.
This field applies to both Network Optimization and Greenfield Analysis. Select one of:
- Include – to include the constraint in the greenfield analysis.
- Exclude – to exclude the constraint from the greenfield analysis.
Default: Include
