Geocoding your locations
Supply Chain Guru X provides a tool to populate the latitude and longitude values for your sites and customers based on address information, such as city, state and postal code. The geocoding tool is available in both the Sites and Customers input tables.
Within the geocoding tool, you can select one or more geocoding providers, based on which providers you have authorized on the Geodata tab in Application Settings. You can also geocode subsets of the locations, using filters and based on whether or not the locations already have coordinates populated.
The results of geocoding depend on the values populated in the Address, City, State, County and Postal Code columns, and on the selected geocoding providers. Some providers work in certain geographies, and with certain components of the address. Some providers may only return coordinates if there are no errors in the address information.
Using the geocoding tool
You access the geocoding tool from the Sites and Customers input tables.

- Open the Sites or Customers input table.
- Click Geocode. You see the Geocoding Tool.
- Click Geocoder Order. You see the Geocoder Order flyout. The Inactive Geocoders lists all geocoding providers supported. Those with a checkbox are licensed and available to select. If you want to enter credentials for providers, click Settings to access the Geodata tab in Application Settings.
- Click the checkbox for one or more providers to move them to Active Geocoders.
- If you have multiple providers selected, you can drag and drop the provider names in Active Geocoders. The order in which they are listed is the order in which they will be used when geocoding. For example, if you have Mapbox first, then Bing Maps, geocoding will use Mapbox as the first provider. If any locations have not been geocoded when Mapbox is finished, Bing Maps will then be used to try to geocode those locations without coordinates.
- Click Update to save the geocoding providers.

- Open the Sites or Customers input table.
- Click Geocode. You see the Geocoding Tool. If you have not already selected geocoding providers, follow the process described in Select the geocoding providers.
- You can filter the sites and/or customers you want to geocode, using the filter row in the data table at the bottom of the geocoding tool:
- Select either the Sites or Customers tab.
- Open the filter row and select an existing filter, or enter the filter criteria.
- You can limit the geocoding to specific records using the switches at the top of the tool:
- "Only Geocode Records Without Coordinates" - only records with neither Latitude nor Longitude values will be geocoded.
- "Only Geocode Filtered Records" - only records currently displayed in the table based on filter criteria will be geocoded.
- From the Geocode dropdown list, select the source of the locations you want to geocode:
- Geocode Sites and Customers
- Geocode Sites
- Geocode Customers
or click Geocode to geocode both Sites and Customers.
The sites and/or customers are geocoded based on the selected providers. When geocoding is complete, you see a summary of how many locations were located and geocoded. The Latitude and Longitude values are populated in the records for those locations.
- Click OK to dismiss the message box. The geocoded sites and customers are displayed on the map in the geocoding tool.
