Generating regions
You can generate records in the Transportation Regions table and in the Tax And Duty Regions table based on values in the Customers table. The resulting regions can be automatically assigned to the appropriate customers. You control the aggregation of customers into regions based on the column you select when generating regions. You can use any column in the Customers table to generate the regions, including user defined columns.

- Open the Transportation Regions input table.
- Click Generate Regions. You see the Generate Transportation Regions form.
- In the Generate Transportation Regions By drop down, select a column from the Customers table. This can be any standard column or user defined column.
- Select either:
- Replace - Existing transportation regions are replaced by the generated regions.
- Append - Generated regions are added to existing regions.
- Check the "Automatically assign generated regions to customers" option if you want to populate the Transportation Region column in the Customers table with the regions you are generating.
- Click Generate. If you have selected Replace, you are asked to confirm replacing the current records.
- Click Yes to replace existing regions.
The new regions are generated and populate the Transportation Regions table. The names of the regions are in the format "Region_<xx>" where <xx> is the value from the column you selected. If you selected the "Automatically assign generated regions to customers" option, the Transportation Region column in the Customers table is populated with the applicable region name.
