Step functions

You build step functions using the Step Cost Definitions and Step Costs tables. Once you have built the step costs, you can select the Name in the column drop-down for columns that can make use of step functions.

You can also use the Step Function Builder on the drop-down list for the field. When entered directly in the field (as opposed to using Step Cost Definitions), values for step costs take the format:

<step1|value1><step2|value2>...<stepn|valuen>

Step functions also support the comma (,) or semi colon (;) in place of the pipe, such as:

<step1,value1><step2,value2>...<stepn,valuen>

In order for a step cost to be evaluated correctly, you must define at least two steps. For example, <2|5> is not a valid step cost. Instead you should define it as <0|0><2|5>. This condition is true when using the Stop Cost Definitions and Step Costs tables. Be sure that you have at least two Step Costs records defined for each Step Cost Definitions record.

You can use drop-downs on fields to enter Step, Value pairs for columns on Sites, Work Centers, Rate and other tables. Values for these fields take the format:

<step1|value1><step2|value2>...<stepn|valuen>

The column drop-down provides a visual way to enter these values, using the Step Function Builder:
