Adding models
You can add new or existing models to the current project. When you add a new model, Supply Chain Guru X creates a SQL Server model database file with the extension .scgm.

- From the Projects page, open an existing project or create a new project (refer to Working with projects).
- Click New Model in the Models area. Supply Chain Guru X defaults to the last location from which you opened a model.
- You can also click New Model on the Recent Projects page. When created from Recent Models, the new model will not belong to a specific project.
- Enter a Model Name and click Save. If you currently have a model open, you are prompted to save any changes to the model.
- Click one of the following:
- Save Changes – Model is saved with current changes.
- Discard Changes – Model reverts to previously saved state.
- Cancel – Model is not closed.
The new model is created, opened and becomes the active model.

- From the Projects area, open an existing project or create a new project (refer to Working with projects).
- Click Add in the Models area. Supply Chain Guru X defaults to the last location from which you opened a model.
- Select the model (.scgm file) and click Open.
The model is added to the current project and opened.

- If your model is an Access database:
- Open the model in Supply Chain Guru 8.x.
- Right-click on the model in the Project Navigator and select Convert Model.
- Click OK to convert to SQL Server (Local) format. A new model database is created with the name <ModelName> (Converted).mdf
- Close the project so that the SQL model is not open in Supply Chain Guru.
- In Supply Chain Guru X, open a project and click the drop down list on Add.
- Select Convert SCG v8 Model. You are advised that a new Supply Chain Guru X model is created and the source models must be from Supply Chain Guru version 8 or higher.
- Click Yes to continue.
- Navigate to the folder with your Supply Chain Guru 8.x models. Select one or more .mdf files and click Open. A copy of the model is created with the name in the format:
<ModelName>_X.scgm
This new model is converted to Supply Chain Guru X format and opened.
