Renaming files

The Rename File action allows you to change the name of a file on a local or network drive. You can:

  • Define the source file path and new file name
  • Configure the options for desired behavior

The file to be renamed is specified in the action’s configuration.

On the Connections tab:

  1. Enter a name and description.

  2. Select the file being renamed, and enter a new file name.

  3. Select options for a non-existing file and naming conflict.

Rename a file

  1. Drag the Rename File icon onto the design surface.
  2. On the Connections tab , enter a Name and a Description to identify this action, then specify the renaming options:
    • For Source File Path, use the browse icon to locate and select the file to be renamed.
    • For New File Name, enter the new name of the file.
    • Select the Warn or Error option to indicate what happens if the file being renamed does not exist. Warnings appear in the output, while errors prevent the action from executing.
    • Indicate whether an existing file can be overwritten if a name conflict is encountered.
